Montessori Middle School…a parent’s perspective

“We have been involved with The Montessori School for over ten years. Our oldest son graduated from Emerson Farm Middle School in 2008 and our youngest will be graduating this spring. The Montessori School has had a tremendous impact on our sons and on our family. We have enjoyed life with children who look forward to school every day, are actively engaged in learning, and take responsibility and ownership for their work. We have never had the “homework battles” that we hear so much about from friends. Montessori education has helped our children develop the critical thinking skills that this generation will need, to address with confidence the complex problems our society is facing. Our children have also learned how to be valuable, contributing members of a group and community. We see our oldest son, who will be graduating from high school this spring, as a highly independent and successful student, and this has given us an even more positive perspective on the solid foundation that his Montessori education has provided. We are excited to watch our younger son’s high school experience unfold.

Providing our children with a Montessori education has required some sacrifices on our part, but those sacrifices are small in comparison to what we feel The Montessori School has nurtured and developed within our children that they will take with them in their journeys.”

–Gail R., parent of Will, ’12 and Stuart, ’08
